December 12th, 2025 Market Report

 Asparagus: 

Markets are up. Northern Peru is driving heavy volume in smaller sizes, keeping supply ahead of East Coast demand. This push should last into early February, and air freight— currently low—is expected to rise as holiday capacity tightens. Quality is good. 

Berries: 

  • Blackberry markets are steady. Fruit supply remains strong out of Baja and Central Mexico. Occasional red cells are being reported on arrival. Quality is good. 
  • Blueberries Market is steady. Peruvian supplies remain available and volumes from Central Mexico continue to increase. Quality from both regions has been good. 
  • Raspberry markets are up. Production from Central Mexico has tightened due to colder weather. Quality is good. 
  • Strawberry markets are coming off. Supplies are ramping up out of Florida. Quality is good. Green Cartons: Markets are steady. Quality is good. 
  • Red Cartons: Markets are steady. Quality is good. 
  • Bagged Cabbage: Markets are steady. Quality is good. 

Broccoli: 

Broccoli markets are steady. The recent rain in Yuma caused some quality issues, such as mildew and pin rot, in the first week of harvest, but we are starting to see an improvement. There is an AOG trigger on all value-added Broccoli items. Quality is good. 

Brussel Sprouts: Alert 

Markets are up and sold out. Salinas Valley and Oxnard regions are dealing with insect pressure, some decay, and smaller-sized produce. There is an AOG trigger on all value-added Brussel Sprout items. Quality is fair. 

Shippers are prorating to 50% of a 10-week average on all Commodity and Value-added Brussel Sprouts. 

Cabbage: 

Carrots: 

  • Cello markets are steady. Quality is good. 
  • Loose Markets are steady. Quality has been good. 
  • Value-add Snack Carrots are steady. Quality is good. 

Cauliflower: 

Markets are coming off. There is an AOG trigger on all value-added Cauliflower items. Quality is good. 

Celery: Alert 

The market is up. Black heart and pith remain the main defects, affecting Southern California production. There is an AOG trigger on all value-added Celery items. Quality is fair to good. 

Citrus: 

  • Lemon: Markets are steady. Markets are improving as increased harvests from District 1 (San Joaquin Valley) boost overall supply. District 3 (CA Desert/AZ) remains the main growing region, with peak sizes at 140ct, 115ct, and 165ct. Mexico is also running with good volumes. Quality is good. 
  • Limes: The lime market is tightening with lower volumes, and active conditions are expected through early 2026 due to the holidays. Large sizes are peaking now, while small sizes will peak by mid-December with the new crop. Some lots may show occasional styler 
  • Orange: Navels are in full swing, with markets firming on 138ct and 113ct as peak sizing shifts to 88ct, 72ct, and 56ct. Cooler nights mean fruit is often gassed only one day or not at all, with Brix at 12–13 and excellent eating quality. Florida fruit remains strong, with peak sizes 125–138ct in choice and standard grades. Quality is good. 

Cucumbers: 

  • Cucumber markets are steady. Quality is good. 
  • Cello Cucumber markets are steady. Quality is good. 

Eggplant: 

Market is soft as volumes ramp in southern Florida. Quality is good. 

Grapes: 

The grape market is transitioning from domestic to imported fruit. Domestic greens are finished, and imports are arriving on both coasts. Quality is fair on remained domestic fruit, import fruit is good. 

Green Onions: Alert 

Markets are up and sold out. Green onion supplies are tightening due to recent rains reducing yields. Expect the market to stay strong into next week. Quality is fair. 

Herbs: 

  • Basil: Quality is fair. 

Lettuce Iceberg: 

Lettuce markets are coming off. Common defects on arrival include brown butts, discoloration, and misshapen heads. Weights are ranging from 38 to 43 pounds. There is an AOG trigger on all value-added Lettuce items. Quality is fair to good. 

Lettuce Leaf: 

  • Romaine markets are coming off. Quality issues reported include discoloration and tip or fringe burn. There is an AOG trigger on all value-added Romaine items. Quality is fair to good. 
  • Romaine Heart markets are coming off. Quality issues reported include discoloration and tip or fringe burn. Quality is fair to good. 
  • Green Leaf markets are coming off. Quality issues reported include discoloration and tip or fringe burn. There is an AOG trigger on all value-added Green Leaf items. Quality is fair to good. 
  • Red Leaf markets are coming off. Quality issues reported include discoloration and tip or fringe burn. Quality is fair to good. 

Lettuce Tender Leaf: 

Arcadian, Spring Mix, Spinach, Cilantro, Arugula, and Italian Parsley. Supplies and quality of tender leaf items are improving, and this trend is expected to continue while favorable weather persists. Quality is fair to good. 

Melons: 

  • Cantaloupes: markets are softening as offshore fruit is becoming more available. Quality is fair to good. 
  • Honeydews: markets are softening as offshore fruit is becoming more available. Quality is good. 

Onions: 

Overall demand remains strong, with steady supplies of all three colors shipping from ID, OR, and WA. Prices are holding firm on yellows and reds, while the market for whites is trending upward. Quality is good. 

Peppers: 

  • Green Pepper market is steady. Quality on inbound has been good. 
  • Red Pepper markets are up. Quality is good. 

Pineapples: 

Markets are steady. Quality has been good. 

Potatoes: 

Harvest is complete, and supplies are now coming out of storage. The quality remains good, with a well-balanced range of sizes available. Color potatoes are coming from CA, ID, MN, WA, and WI. Quality is good. 

Squash: 

Market is softening slightly on both green and yellow squash 

Tomatoes: 

  • Round tomato markets are coming off. Quality is good. 
  • Roma tomato markets are coming off. Quality is good. 
  • Grape tomato markets are steady. Quality is good. 
  • Cherry tomato markets are steady. Quality is good. 

Yams: Alert 

Markets are active. Jumbo yams are in short supply. Orders moving forward will have a high probability of being prorated. Quality is good.
