January 2nd, 2026 Market Report

 Asparagus:

Markets are steady. Peru is filling the Mexico gap with rising volumes, mostly smaller sizes shipped by ocean, while Mexican supply is tight with sharply higher prices and minimal large sizes as production winds down before a delayed Sonora ramp-up. Quality is good.

Berries:

  • Blackberry markets are steady. The holidays have softened demand and supplies are adequate. Quality is good.
  • Blueberries Market is steady. We are currently in a brief gap on offshore fruit, with Peruvian supplies nearing the end and Chilean volumes beginning to ramp up. At the same time, rising production out of Central Mexico is helping keep the market stable. Quality is good.
  • Raspberries markets are steady. Production out of Central Mexico is down due to inclement weather and markets are firming across all distribution points. Quality is good
  • Strawberry markets are slightly up. Production has slowed due to colder weather in the southeast which is driving the pricing up. Quality is good. Green Cartons: Markets are steady. Quality is good.
  • Red Cartons: Markets are steady. Quality is good.
  • Bagged Cabbage: Markets are steady. Quality is good.

Brussel Sprouts: Alert

Markets are up and sold out. Salinas Valley and Oxnard regions are dealing with insect pressure, some decay, and smaller-sized produce. There is an AOG trigger on all value-added Brussel Sprout items. Quality is fair.

Quality is fair to good.

Citrus: Alert

  • Lemon: Markets are improving as increased harvests from District 1 (San Joaquin Valley) boost overall supply. • Limes: Lime markets are firm as the current crop winds down and No. 1 fruit becomes tight. Prices are expected to rise through January and possibly February due to declining yields and steady demand. Sizing will fluctuate, with larger fruit now and smaller fruit increasing, and there is some risk of transit-related defects from weather impacts. Some lots may show occasional styler
  • Orange: Navel oranges are peaking on 88/72/56ct, while 113/138ct fruit has tightened due to recent weather, keeping small fruit scarce and markets strong. Persistent fog in the Central Valley is causing moisture-related harvest and post-harvest challenges, and upcoming heavy rain is expected to further impact picking. Quality is good.
