Market Outlook

 

Lettuce: 

The lettuce market is moving up. Very high temperatures are affecting yields. We are seeing good quality on inbound.

Leaf: 

Romaine and romaine hearts are also moving up due to lower yields. Quality has been good on all Romaine items.  Both Green leaf and Red leaf are mostly steady and quality has been good overall.

Broccoli:

The Broccoli market is higher with fair supplies. Quality has been very good on inbound.

Cauliflower:

The cauliflower market is steady to up a few dollars with lighter supplies. Quality has been good on inbound.

Carrots:

The carrot market is steady, but elevated for next week as Mexico crossings are very light. Quality remains good.

Celery:

The celery market has steadied with better supplies coming on in Salinas. Quality has been good out of Salinas. Oxnard has finished.

Strawberries: 

Market will be up a few dollars. Quality has been very good overall.

Potatoes:

The Idaho potato market continues to move up, especially on large sizes. We are also seeing smaller sizes beginning to move. Overall, quality is fair to good.

Onions:

The onion market remains pretty steady for next week. Quality remains very good on both yellow and red onions.

Citrus

The California lemon market remains strong and is very short. We are seeing good quality overall. We are seeing some Chilean arrivals, but light supplies overall and strong markets.  Oranges are steady, but high with limited availability. Quality has been good. The Lime market is steady for next week. We are seeing good quality on inbound.

Cucumbers:

The cucumber market is steady for next week. We are seeing good quality.

Peppers:

The green pepper market will still remain up for next week. We are still having sizing issues, with most all arrivals coming in large. There are no small peppers being quoted.

Tomatoes:

The round tomato market has softened a few dollars with South Carolina and Georgia underway. Supplies remain light overall. We are seeing fair to good quality. California starting in a very small way. Grape and cherry tomatoes are a bit lower. Both are showing good quality. The Roma market is much higher with very limited supplies from Mexico.
